The church in Brekkuþorp is beautiful and worth seeing.
People of all ages enjoy walking along the shore and picking rocks and shells. In Mjóifjörður you can find sandy beaches and small rocky beaches where you can take a swim in the sea or splash on a hot summer day.
Beautiful waterfalls are all around, magnificent nature view and ideal berry picking in the fall. Not to mention ancient relics from the past, hidden in many places when driving along the coast.
The drive down the gravel road to get there was breathtaking.The scenery on all side was absolutely beautiful. A remote village, beautiful waterfalls, stunning nature and lovely walks. Went berry picking and walked down to the church and harbour all with a very friendly dog! Even saw the Northern Lights on our first night. Mjóifjörður was one of our favorite places in Iceland.
